More of the same

Regarding Impeachment of the President, there is an excellent article here written by a former Representative who was involved in the impeachment proceedings against Nixon. It is interesting to feel the gravity with which Elizabeth Holtzman treats the subject of impeachment. She makes more than one comparison between our sitting President and Nixon, my favorite of which is

"President Bush recently proclaimed, 'We do not torture.' In view of the revelations of the CIA's secret jails and practice of rendition, not to mention the Abu Ghraib scandal, the statement borders on the absurd, recalling Nixon's famous claim, 'I am not a crook.'"

All cheekiness aside it is a very serious and sobering document laying out very seriously the actions that Bush has taken, which law they violate or potentially violate, and why these infractions are worthy of something as severe as Impeachment. She ends not just with a call to action, but with the broad strokes of a plan of action. Go read it.
